Brook wants to be just like her cousin Bernadette, so when she discovers a difference between them - Bernadette's scar from being born with a cleft palate - she sets out to equalize things.
In an impoverished New Orleans neighborhood, a group of mostly white punk activists try to turn an old warehouse into a model for a more just, sustainable, and egalitarian society, but it proves harder than they thought to reconcile internal divisions, overcome cliques and ego battles, and bridge differences with their neighbors.
